Manuel the waiter WIP
First Entry! yay!
A big hello to all. In this first post I present a work in progress that I have been working on using both Luxology Modo and Blender. The project started from a sketch that I made after getting quite excited over the Pixar hort film collection, my personal favorite being Presto.
After finishing the sketch I took it into Modo and began modeling. I am very new to Modo and I'm still very much quite useless with the tool set, it seems to take me twice as long to model something as it would in Blender, but then again I will hopefully learn how to use the tools properly and efficiently. So I begin modeling like I would start any character from the eyes extruding a plane around. Eventually after a lot of muscling points into place I am left with something like this;
At this stage the model is still quite raw and I want to speed things up so I export out into Blender as an OBJ to finish off. I then throw on some materials to see if the model is working, in terms of form and gesture, and make the necessary tweaks until I am left with this;
This is where Manuel is at present and there is still many things I need to do before I call him finished and move on to something else. I need to model some shoelaces, rework the hand and its topology, model a waistcoat and also create the inside of the mouth in case it gets rigged and animated in the future.
